Adaptive Resource Allocation for CDMA Systems in Fading Environment

Next generations of mobile telecommunication have to provide not only the voice or message services but also a wide set of new applications coming from the Internet world. Because of fading wireless channel and limited bandwidth, the problem of resource and power allocation has become of prime importance for stability and effectiveness of future mobile communication systems. In this paper we study the optimal power allocation using both information and queueing theory. Furthermore, we introduce an adaptive resource allocation policy for direct spread code division multiplex access DS-CDMA systems with constrained total transmission power and limited number of spreading sequences. We show that proposed allocation techniques can significantly improve system performance.
